Cheese Twisted Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (about 450g) pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12×16 inches.
  3. Add Cheese:
    • Spread the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the surface of the dough.
  4. Fold and Cut:
    • Fold the dough in half lengthwise, covering the cheese. Press the edges to seal.
    • Using a sharp knife, cut the folded dough into strips, creating individual twists.
  5. Twist the Strips:
    • Twist each strip of dough, stretching it slightly as you go, and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Prepare Garlic Butter:
    • While the bread is baking, mix the melted butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley (if using).
  8. Brush and Serve:
    • Once the Cheese Twisted Bread is out of the oven, brush the twisted strips with the garlic butter mixture.
  9. Serve Warm:
    • Serve the Cheese Twisted Bread warm, either on its own or with marinara sauce for dipping.
